"Dollhouse" Music Video Review

Everyone thinks that we're perfect Please don't let them look through the curtains

Dollhouse” is an Alternative/Indie song by Melanie Martinez released in 2015 in her album entitled “Cry Baby

The music video of Dollhouse is really meaningful and surprising.

Contrary to the first scene showing the fun and innocence that the dollhouse usually shows, the music video is full of everything but that.

It starts by showing that the view is going to be inside an open dollhouse.

The subsequent shots show the harsh realities of a family that they don't want others to see. The dollhouse is a representation of a family that is perfect and happy on the outside but has troubled life.

The mother has become alcoholic due to the father's infidelity.

The brother is using cannabis.

When the little girl is coming they all play their roles and act like what they want the girl should see and when they take a picture they all smile even though the real situation of their relationship is bad.

This is for to those who just let the perfect side of their family or relationship be seen than the truth which is having problems and deeper issues.

The music video really is interesting as it captures the attention of the viewers and perfectly portray the message of the song itself. I recommend watching it to see how these metaphors were used and just to feel the meaning of the song.
